Jessica’s morning wasn’t supposed to start like this.
She looked across the living room.
She saw the lunchbox.
The backpack.
And there, beside them, sat her son.
Strapping on his velcro shoes.
Smiling that trademark smile that always melts her heart.
She walked over. Picked him up. Pulled him close.
And then he whispered the words every working mom both longs for and dreads:
“Mommy, are you gonna pick me up from school today?”
If only she could.
Every beat of her mama heart longed to be there, waiting as he came running out of class. Longed for the carpool line. The ice cream stop. The stories from the day.
She could feel the steam of tears rising behind her eyes.
Because she knew the life she longed for.
A life where her job title didn’t interfere with her most important one: Mom.
A life where the 9-5 didn’t drain her for the 5-9.
A life where her husband and son could be her everything… because they already were.
A life where she could stroll through Target on a Tuesday.
Just because.
She knew the life she longed for.
And this wasn’t it.
That was 2023 — the year Jessica joined the College Mastermind.
Back then, she had no systems.
No campus reps.
And a whole lot of debt to pay off.
She wasn’t paying herself.
She didn’t have a social strategy.
She was still afraid to show her face on camera.
But after being a part of The College Mastermind, let’s fast forward to the Jessica of today:
And most importantly — she’s starting to believe she can go full time.
Now, Jessica’s dreaming bigger! Just check out her next wave of goals:
100 grad sessions a year.
An associate team.
Sabbaticals. Maternity leave. Real estate media.
And yes — feeling the freedom to finally be a full-time photographer.
Because that heart-breaking question from her son?
It became a catalyst.
She’s no longer just building a business.
She’s building a life that lets her say yes.
Yes to picking up her son from school.
Yes to being present with the family she cherishes.
Yes to Target on a Tuesday.
And she’s got an entire Mastermind community behind her — cheering her on, crying happy tears, and ready to break into a dance party when that final debt gets paid off.
Because the next time her little boy asks if she’ll be there to pick him up?
Jessica’s answer will be simple…
“Yes.“
